Full-stack Software Developer - Specialist in Energy System Optimization (München, DE)

We are looking for a full-stack software developer with experience in modeling and optimizing systems as data for our coneva FLEX team. coneva FLEX is our digital solution to benefit from variable electricity tariffs through load shifting.

coneva FLEX is designed as a tech stack consisting of two main components. First, a containerized edge device stack that measures and controls locally connected assets such as photovoltaic systems, electric vehicles, stationary batteries, heat pumps via various protocols (Modbus, OCPP, ...). And second, a backend based on a microservice cluster that collects, aggregates, optimizes data and brings energy flexibility from the edge to the energy markets (spot, ...). A significant part of the system is designed to support the dynamic electricity tariff coneva FLEX.

These are your tasks:

• Development of the Flex product: As part of an agile and international team, you will play a key role in driving the development of our Flex product
• Algorithms for energy management and automated trading: You will design and implement algorithms for energy management in the B2B sector and for automated trading on several spot markets. This includes both forecasting and optimization
• Control of controllable loads and generators: You will develop algorithms for the control of controllable loads and generators
• Modeling of energy systems: You model industrial and commercial energy systems with a variety of components in order to simulate and optimize them
• Data analysis and system optimization: You will analyze data from pilot projects or operations using suitable statistical methods and derive the need for change in order to optimize the energy system - You will also ensure quality through documentation and testing and support the sales department in recording customer requirements and analyzing and simulating customer inquiries

Your skills are in demand:

• Studies: You have a degree in a scientific or engineering field
• Mathematical modeling and optimization: You are experienced in mathematical modeling and optimization of systems, especially in convex (especially mixed-integer linear programming) optimization
• Python stack and data sources: You are experienced in using a Python stack, e.g. Jupyter, Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, cvxpy, and can independently tap into data sources such as relational databases, REST APIs or files in various formats
• Insight generation and teamwork: You enjoy generating insights and sharing them with the team, e.g. via interactive Jupyter notebooks; in addition, you have already worked in a development team and use the usual tools such as Jira, git and CI/CD pipelines as part of the development process
• Testing and simulation: You can weigh up different test approaches such as unit tests, integration tests and simulations and implement a suitable approach
• Agile methods and communication: You have experience in dealing with agile development methods (SCRUM) and communicate routinely in German and English with internal and external stakeholders - As a team player, you feel comfortable in a start-up environment

Add-Ons:

• Detailed knowledge of electricity markets, especially spot market trading in Germany
• Detailed knowledge of the energy technology components used in the commercial sector, e.g. stationary batteries, EV chargers, PV systems.
• You use state-of-the-art software process tooling (Git, Jira, Confluence, Azure Pipelines, IoT edge provisioning and deployment, etc.)
